Jan Blachowicz will defend his UFC light heavyweight title against Glover Teixeira in the main event of UFC 267 at the Etihad Arena in Abu Dhabi.
It will be Blachowicz’s second title defense following his decision victory over middleweight champion Israel Adesanya in March. He’ll be standing across the Octagon from Glover Teixeira, who is getting another chance at becoming champion after losing to Jon Jones back in 2014.
Blachowicz will aim to carve out his legacy as a light heavyweight champion but will need to secure several title defenses before entering the conversation with the likes of Jon Jones, Chuck Liddell, Daniel Cormier and others. Teixiera would be a huge name on his resume.

But Texiera isn’t going to allow Blachowicz to cruise to another title defense. The 41-year-old from Brazil is the UFC’s all-time leader in finishes in the light heavyweight division and is currently riding a five-fight winning streak.

Blachowicz vs. Teixeira prediction
The run that Jan Blachowicz has been on since 2019 is incredibly impressive with victories against the likes of Luke Rockhold, Corey Anderson, Jacare Souza, Dominick Reyes and Israel Adesanya. But if you dig a little deeper, perhaps those wins aren’t as great as they seem on the surface level.
With the exception of Adesanya (who moved up a weight class) and Corey Anderson, each of those victories were against opponents that were coming off of a loss. In one way or another, Blachowicz’s opponents have been compromised. And while that may sound like it’s undermining Blachowicz’s current run, it’s more about dealing with an opponent with momentum and confidence.
Teixeira has won five consecutive fights over the past two and a half years. Outside of a split decision to Nikita Krylov, the Brazilian has finished off the likes of Thiago Santos — the last person to beat Blachowicz — Anthony Smith, Ion Cutelaba and Karl Roberson. This isn’t to say that Blachowicz shouldn’t be the favorite, but this fight is a lot closer than the odds indicate.
Although he is 41 years of age, Teixeira is extremely dangerous with heavy hands and an exceptional ground game. There’s a reason why he’s the UFC’s all-time leader in finishes in the 205-pound division. It’s also not like Blachowicz is a spring chicken at 38 years of age. The champion is fully capable of turning back Teixeira back. However, the value is in the Brazilian finding a way to win and becoming the UFC light heavyweight champion.
There are some risky prop bets with Teixiera by decision at +850, submission at +800 and a KO/TKO at +650 but it’s really difficult to nail down how he’ll win if he does come out victorious. Blachowicz has only been submitted once very early in his MMA career and knocked out once by Santos. He’s proven to be durable but he’s not indestructible. As for Glover, he’s been hurt plenty but only finished three times in his MMA career against Alexander Gustafsson, Anthony Johnson and in his professional debut nearly twenty years ago.
Teixeira is very difficult to put away and has shown that he’s dangerous when wounded, as evidenced when he survived an early knockdown to submit Santos. Teixeira is a lot more calculated in his approach and slower due to age. Those are things that Blachowicz can take care of but with two men of this size, one punch can alter the fight in a hurry.
Blachowicz might be a hair better as a striker but there’s just enough dog in Teixeira where he can find a way to pull off the upset.
If you’re a bettor, there’s more than enough reason to play where the odds are in your favor, and that’s rolling with Teixeira.
