MANILA, Philippines — Junna Tsukii delivered the gold medal in the World Karate Federation (WKF) Premier League Sunday in Lisbon, Portugal.

The Fil-Japanese karateka beat Moldir Zhangbyrbay of Kazakhstan, 2-0, in the Female Kumite -50kg final.

It was an emotional win for the 2018 Asian Games bronze medalist who shed tears of joy following her victory.

Tsukii made the title round after knocking off two-time world champion Alexandra Recchia of France, 2-0, in the semifinals on Saturday.

The 29-year-old Tsukii has been training in Serbia for the past two months.

She hopes to secure a slot in the Tokyo Olympics via the world qualifiers in Paris, France slated next month.
